Hey guys, I have a quick question about my personal statement. I am applying to a program that stresses work with multiple professors in more than one area of research. I spent the large majority of my personal statement focusing on my major interest with relation to my primary POI. One of the other professors is researching an area that I am also somewhat interested in, but have had very little exposure to. I think it would be to my benefit to mention the potential of working with him, but I dont want to fake like I am an expert in his area of study. Should I say straight up that I am interested in the line of study but have not had much exposure to it? Do you think it would be better to leave him out of my statement altogether, even though the program stresses working with more than one faculty member?

Don't fake it, contact him and ask him to recommend the literature that you should bone up on before interviewing with him.
