I would love to hear stories from residents, who ranks 2+ different specialty because they have a difficulty choosing. What were they? what did you end up matching in? did you regret the specialty you're in?

Also, what were your reason for ranking different specialty? back up? want to stay in a specific region? just can't decide?

You'll likely find more people applying to more than one field because of varying competitiveness - i.e. one or more of the fields are "backups" to the toughest, chosen field.

Derm + IM
Ortho + G Surg
Plastics + G Surg

Etc. are well-known examples.
