I have a friend applying this upcoming cycle who will have worked in three research labs. One was over the summer of her freshman year not at her campus and the next two on her campus. She moved from the second research lab to the third one due to the professor running out of funding and is wondering if she should state that as the reason she moved labs on her AMCAS (as she is worried that working in three labs for relatively short periods of time may look bad on her application).

Thanks!

I worked in 4 research labs. I was for 4 months, 1 for 1 month, 1 over the summer and one for over 2.5 years. I didn't explain on my application why I left the labs I just stated what I did in each one. And I was never asked why in any of my interviews, even in MD/PhD interviews. So for my experience, keeping in mine n=1, no one seemed to look upon my experiences unfavorably.
