Hey guys!
Does anyone recommend an area of Perth or specific apartments to look at for someone heading to Murdoch for vet school this July? (If anyone remembers my earlier thread about Sydney vs Murdoch I've made a final decision 😀 )
Anyways, I know there's a few of you heading that way and some who are already there, and I wondered what you're doing for housing, and what you'd recommend. I definately don't have the money to head there now and find a place, but my boyfriend and I plan on heading out there a couple weeks early to start a search.

Also, it would have to be a place that allows 2 cats...

Thanks!
Lauren

You could try

http://www.domain.com.au, it is a good site for the eastern states but I'm not so sure for WA. I did a quick search on it and there seem to be quite a few rental properties though 🙂

Hi Lauren!
I'm heading over to start at Murdoch in July as well 😀 I've found vetstudents.net to be a great resourse. This page http://vetstudents.net/content/view/341/70/1/2/ has a bunch of links for housing in Perth. Most of the sites allow you to select pet friendly places to search.
My boyfriend and I are heading out in the begining of July (hopefully no later than the 7th) and we're planing on looking for a place once we're there. I've gathered from some students there and looking around online that appartments per se don't really exist and one/two bedroom duplexes are significantly more expensive than house shares. So we're planning on going over with the intention of sharing a larger house with other people. I want to live as close as possible to the school. Walking distance would be perfect 🙂 If that is not a possibility I'll be looking along the train and bus routes as I do not want to have to buy a car right away. The university is the suburb of Murdoch.

hmmm...

finding pet-friendly housing has been the biggest pain for me here. your best bet will prob'ly be a house or a little further out. i'm on my own with two cats, so a house is a little out of reach for me.

last year i was lucky - i called a lady about her place and she said, "sorry, no pets." then she called me back 2 minutes later and asked what kind of pets i had and if i'd be willing to pay pet rent.

this year, i wanted to move for a couple of reasons, but many places say the same thing, "sorry, no pets." most don't publish it in their ads, so you have to waste your time to call to find out. i just grew tired of the runaround, so i decided to stay where i am (which is good for many reasons).

there are many good places to live, depending on what you want. you can contact me privately (or any of the other murdoch students that lurk around here) to find out specifics.

congratulations on your acceptance. see you in july...

I haven't even thought about accommodations yet! I guess I just figured I'd live *shudder* :scared: in the dorms for a semester to get settled in and then find something. I'll have to sit down and do that whole cost/benefit thing 😛
