A-band never contracts. The only thing that makes no sense to me is: Why do people say thin filament contracts but I-band doesn't. Isn't I-band made up of thin filament? Aren't I-bands brought closer during contraction?

yes the i-bands are brought closer together during contraction, and the size of the i-bands are reduced as well.

i dont think you can use the word "contract" when referring to the filaments. the thick and thin filaments "slide" by each other and the bands change accordingly.
