Hey guys, I'm not going to be taking the DAT for awhile (maybe 6-12 months) but wanted to start stocking up on prep stuff now and slowly assimilate it.

Anyways, upon reading the forums I realize that there is a lot more stuff out there now then back when I first took it years ago. What are some of the essentials? I already have EK mcat books & 1001 questions and Audio Osmosis. I've heard good things about DAT destroyer, but this only has questions right? For those who've taken the test, what do you recommend or not recommend??

DAT Destroyer is a must. It helps you to reinforce the information you been studying for and gives a 'mini lesson' on each question.

Achiever and/or Topscore are DAT simulated tests that will help you with the structure of the DAT and, of course, timing.

hope this helps

kaplan blue book, dat destroyer, cliffs ap bio, and barron's dat book (for PAT only)... if you know these books inside and out it is impossible to get less than a 20.

jb!🙂

"only questions" is a bit of an understatment regarding the Destroyer. Those questions are very extensive. The solutions are what seperates the Destroyer from other question sources.

The Destroyer really lives up to its name. You won't regret buying it...I promise! Achiever is also worth the money. Way better than topscore. Good luck!

thanks for the input. I used Topscore yrs ago and didn't like it, especially the fact that it expires. I think I'll try out Achiever when I get closer to the test date, because I think that also has an expiry date.

What is a good book to review QR? I have some GRE math books but don't know how helpful they'll be. The Kaplan DAT book is a joke, but especially in the QR & PAT sections.

Also for PAT, what is everyone using for practice? Is Achiever enough?

i only used to achiever for the sciences and found it to be demoralizing 😳 i did here it was good for the PAT, though..

haha, I didn't mean to to insult the Destroyer. I just want something to review first before tackling practice questions, that's all.

Is the Kaplan blue book the same book that you have to buy when you're enrolled in their course? Or are they two different books?

Oh ya for QR, Destroyer gives you good basics but you should try purplemath.com

I remember someone saying that you should really know probabilities and trig

yea, I would definitely NOT neglect QR...it felt like i got like 30 word problems, no joke. I used Topscore and i scored about 1-2 points higher on the real thing except for QR and RC lol. Good luck!
