Did anyone on here get into d-school with multiple W's on their transcripts but a great G.P.A? If so, how many W's and what was your G.P.A.? thanks!

bump to this...

Is it ok to get a W on a stupid elective? Like a 1cr. 'Geo: Rocks and Humans' class?

Nope, you guys are screwed. Don't even bother applying.

Joking! Relax, do well on the DAT, interview well and you'll be fine.

I didn't have multiple W's nor am I an adcom member, but FWIW, I think that multiple W's would show lack of investigation (investigating what the course was about and it's time committment), lack of follow through, and/or lack of proper planning. In ds, you can't just drop a course if it isn't going well or you didn't like it.

I took a W in a botany course taught by a male-hating lesbian who wore a different color sweater-vest everyday. I had a 3.5 and 20AA 20PAT when I applied, was accepted to four schools out of seven interviews. I think if they're early on in your academic career and not in O-chem or physiology or the likes, you'll be fine with a decent DAT score. If by multiple, you mean like more than 3 or 4, you may or may not have shot yourself in the foot on that one.

Thanks..

I just needed more time to focus on a research project, so I was thinking of dropping this 1 credit geography (space-filler) course..Should be fine?? Even though I'm a Senior??

I think you should be fine, depending on the rest of your stats. If you can pound it out though, and even pull a c+ or b-, a 1 credit course will not have that big of an impact on your gpa. It will be a lot easier to explain that you got a C in the class becaused you were focusing on your research project, as opposed to explaining a W. Keep in mind also, I got in last year which was very competitive, this year is EXTREMELY competitive, so it would be advisable to avoid any unnecessary negatives for the adcoms to see.
