It seems to me there are lots of ppl who got MWU interview invites, and I am one of em. I am trying to find out how many seats there are for entering class of 2009, and how many ppl they are inteviewing.. does anyone know?

Well, I do not know how many students will be accepted next year but I would guess 110 (they were shooting for 110 this year but ended up with 111). They are anticipating to interview 500-ish people to fill the class. It is a great program, great faculty, great students.

You should be studying those antibiotics!!! Well I should be studying too and yet I'm on SDN........... I gotta get my daily SDN dose.

I think I heard somewhere they said around 400 some people this year. They are interviewing 16 people every Tues, Wednesday.

antibiotics, schmantibiotics... and yes, I should. 😀

it would make sense for them since it is such a new school... a lot of ppl view the school as somewhat unfinished.. so im thinking theyre just interviewing a lot to make sure their class is full. or maybe im wrong haha

anyway i interviewed there today, BEAUTIFUL campus but it was really hot 😳

MWU is similar to ASDOH in that they just interview a lot of people.

btw it wasn't that hot today (to our standards). Hot is in august.

Per Dr. Gilpatrick stated that MWU is interviewing 600 applicants for 110 spots. However, he did indicate the ability to accept as many as 145 (eventually).

The first 60 will be accepted on Dec 1 and the remaining 50 will be rolling admissions.

what?? wow...
i thought it was 300 for 110 positions...
so it's actualy 1 out of 6!!!

🙁

Those numbers seem about right. They'll probably offer 150 or so students to fill the 110 spots. How many will accept pre and post december 1st is another question. I personally think they will fill up most of their spots after december 1st since its a brand new school and people will tend to be a bit apprehensive.

Last year around 100 acceptences were given out on Dec 1st, and I heard around 70 out of the 100 accepted the offer.

Hello everyone. I'm wondering if there's an essay on the interview? They told me just to bring my self and nothing else hehe. did you guys fill up the interview feed back?

Amen to that. I interviewed there on Tuesday. But the campus was beautiful and the sim lab was incredible, brand new of course. 125 stations, you don't have to share, LG monitors, cameras so you can watch what the teacher is doing. So sick. But yea they told us that they thought there would be about 600 interviews for 110 spots..

hmm .. 600 interviews for 110 seats.... dang, i should be more worried than I already am...

anyone has interview on 11/18??

Yeah I heard the same thing as Mimesx.

My theory is that with a relatively new school with a nonexistent reputation, they have to interview and accept a lot more people, because it is not a high choice for a lot of people they accept, and these offers will be declined.

What you say is partially true. Yes for those people that get multiple offers, most likely a new school will not be their first choice. However, the admissions people arn't stupid, they most likely know this themselves. THey know the 3.8 -4.0 gpa student with 23 + DAT scores will get multiple acceptances and go elsewhere. So most likely they will not give out a lot of acceptances to these people. Its a waste of their time.

They are interviewing A LOT of people, like 500 - 600 people. While a handful of them are people with high stats (that will get multiple offers), I would say majority of the people interviewed are people with average to slightly above average stats that most likely will only get one or two acceptances at most. And these are the people I think the MWU admissions people are trying to target.

The word on the street is that not a lot of the acceptances were declined last year, and by March there was a long list of people on the waiting list dying to get in that didn't get in.

I think your theory has a good point, I think that alot of people apply to MWU as a back-up because of the newness and such. You will find though that after an interview your opinion of MWU will change as you meet the faculty and meet the students and see the philosophy here. MWU does have arguably one of the best POD and DO program around with excellent board passing rates (the inagural DO class passed 100% board part 1 and 2 in the late 90's. The same faculty that teach the DO's teach the dental students) and students who will tell you they had an excellent education, I am sure the dental program will be the same. I came here because this was the only school I got into but I would have chosen MWU over other schools if I had the option. I know several classmates who chose this school over other schools (some with great reputations). If you are not sure of the school, I would encourage you to apply and give it a chance and see for yourself.
