Ok, so I received the DAT Destroyer today by Dr. Romano. I have been going through sections of it for the last couple of hours and I have to say I am pretty impressed. The problems are challenging and seem to be focused on areas that are easily forgotten or skipped over. Many rules that distinguish the average student from the top students are put into the form of questions as to be easily recognized. I will give a full review after my DAT as for now I give it a 👍 .

So I thought I would update this review. My opinion still holds strong that this is great material. I think what stands out the most are the detailed explanations. They are actually explanations that anyone would be able to understand. The other thing that continues to impress me with the Destroyer is that if I have any questions I have someone to ask. Anytime I have called or e-mailed Dr. Romano I am able to get in touch with him, and to me this is extremely beneficial. Anyhow, again this is just my $0.02. Now...........back to the grind.

Ill update to... This is still a great study tool. I wont be using it extensively until about 2 weeks before the test because i believe it will be a great last minute asset. Rockstar is right though, anyone can understand the explanations, its really nice... Anyways just my 2 cents to 😛

hmm..i'll update as well..
i've finished reviewing the book (bios/Gchem/orgo/QR) .. and i was very impressed. the material is very specific. in fact..the clever trick is...each question tests your knowledge in EVERY aspect that you just have to know what the other options were in teh multiple choice in order to find the correct choice. so in that way.. i was forced to go over my weaknesses so i can answer it correctly. One thing you should know though... is that the questions should be tackled after you have reviewed and gone over all the material first..and i would suggest doing it this way, to get the most out of it effectively. so review everything first (take advantage of text books especially for organic and g.chem....kaplan...schaum's bios..) and THEN go over the problems...this way you can IDENTIFY your weaknesses and then perfect what you don't know...

I just took the DAT and used the DAT Destroyer as my primary science material (especially for Gen Chem and Orgo). These were my scores:

Bio:19 (91%)
Gen Chem:21 (92%)
Orgo: 21 (94%)
Reading Comp:21 (88%)
Quantitative:20 (91%)
PAT:17 (72%)
Total Science:21 (97%)
Academic:20 (93%)

I also used Kaplan, which I think is good for Bio, but I prefered the Destroyer for Orgo and Chem because the questions were on the same path as the real DAT questions. In fact, they are a little more challenging, which prepares you for the real thing. Three days before the test, I was doing some Kaplan problems, and I just did not feel like they were testing my true knowledge of the material. I ditched those and did some Destroyer problems and my confidence shot right up. The Destroyer explanations focus on the wrong answer choices in addition to the right one, providing detailed explanantions for each. I highly recommend it as a study material for the sciences. Two thumbs up! 👍 👍

For those who are using the DAT Destroyer......make sure you go thru all the problems and clearly understand the basic concepts. One of my students that studied under me and used my materials, called today and was elated to announce her acceptance into Harvard Dental.

I'm currently taking Dr. Ramano's review course in Staten Island and using the Destroyer as my study guide....I'm ripping up every orgo, gen-chem and bio question on my practice tests because of it. For those of you out there who aren't fortunate enough to take Dr. Ramano's course in person, I highly suggest you do yourselves a favor and at least buy the book to save yourselves from the severe disadvantage you are subjecting yourselves to without it. Anyway, thats my $0.02 and I pray that everyone out there jumps on the bandwagon and gets themselves this valuable material.

I love how these new handles just kind of magically appear. Again, orgoman's material is too wordy and is not reminiscent of the real thing. Try Examkrackers, TopScore, and DAT Achiever...much, much, better study guides. Just my $0.03.

Definitely. I'd say $50 is the magic number. Anything over that and pre-dents run for the hills.

I totally agree with RockstarDMD. The DAT destroyer is really good. He also provided many shortcuts on QR, Orgo, and Gen Chem. Even when you have a question, you can call him up at anytime to get help. Which I think is awesome.

Guys I haven’t seen the DAT destroyer, I did however participate in last summers DAT preparation course given by Dr. Romano. If the destroyer is anything like his class notes I would highly recommend it.
Dr. Romano is not only a brilliant science teacher but a great mentor and friend to all his students.
BTW Dr. Romano is a doctor (oral surgeon). Don’t know why he choose education over medicine, but I’m glad he did.
And no, I’m not getting paid for this post 🙂

I completely disagree with these last two posts. I think the material was too wordy and not representative of the "real deal." Stick with Kaplan, TopScore, DAT Achiever, and even Exam Krackers. 👍 You'll be much better off. If you can afford it...then as a last resort, get DAT destroyer.

KOM, I respect your opinion, but I don’t understand why you insist in mocking someone else’s hard work, it is pure ignorance. Number two, I’m referring to your total disagreement on my recent post, I never said that the DAT destroyer was great, I think I mentioned that I never even saw it, what I said was that the course in general was fantastic. Dr. Romano not only has a great approach in teaching science but the class itself is like a great novel, you look forward to coming back for more, and if the destroyer is anything like his course Material, which I assume it is, it must be great.

If you have a question about anything in the DAT Destroyer material, all you have to do is call the author. You'll get a prompt, if not immediate, answer.

I paid for this material because I found someone willing to stand behind his work and I feel confident I made the right decision. I'll know better in a month and I'll post scores (regardless of outcome) to verify the realism of the material to that of the DAT.

I respect all opinions. Sorry, I don't really understand a few of your sentences...is English your second language? I agree...I think people should get DAT Destroyer if they have the resources. I don't think it compares with some of the other guides out there, and being that the process is so expensive I just really want to help people sift through the different material that's available. That's it. If DAT Destoyer works for you then rock on. I just want to warn them not to simply "buy into" some of these posts, because a lot of them seem to be like something out of an info-mercial ad. Those are the sorts of things that take advantage of the "over-anxious" student. It does seem to me that Dr. Romano is available to take questions and provide more specific attention...and that is definitely one thing he has above the competition. I would expect his product only to improve with time. Good luck.

Oh and yes...I'm terrified of losing my spot to you. AHHHHH.
