My application is going to be the "Typical Pre-med" type :(

I feel like all my experiences are the "typical pre-med" type ones🙁:

1. Clinical work experience - PCT for 4 years
2. Research Experience - Presentation (3+years)
3. Clinical volunteer - 6 months
4. Non-clinical volunteer - 3 years (here and there not too many hours)
5. Club - Medical related (Co-founder and leadership position)
6. Shadowing (30 hrs)
7. Research summer program (only 2 weeks)
8. Deans honor list (every semester)
9. STEM Tutoring (2.5 years)
10. Non medical related club - leadership (1 year)

Is adding a hobby normal??? Can I add cooking as a hobby, who would I add as a contact person? I haven't cooked at a professional level but I love cooking with my mom

Also, I have this Multilingual Award that I received in High school (I know your not suppose to add anything from High school) but this award proves that I'm proficient in 3 different languages - This seems to be the only thing that might make my application look a little unique

I don't think I have anything else to include and now that I look at all of them it's literally a pre-med students checklist

I wouldn't be too worried - remember that being a competitive MD applicant comes down to a 3.7/509 with these sorts of ECs. Contrary to the image presented on SDN, very very few "complete package" applicants with a LizzyM of 78 or greater exist.

Definitely add a hobby to your app, cooking is a great one 🙂 it's one of mine as well.

While hobbies are ECs, they are exactly that...hobbies. They let us know what kind of person you are. Your ECs are fine. If you want ot beef them up to look better than typical pre-med, add hours in service to those less fortunate than yourself. medicine is a service profession, after all. Show off your altruism!

Show that you have a personality and not just good on paper o yo ass might as well be grass and dem adcoms be mowin

But do you guys think I should still add that multilingual award or no?

I think there is a part of the AMCAS application where you select which languages you speak. That should suffice. And speaking 3 languages is way cool! Which three?

You can just self-identify as being proficient in 3 languages; there is a section on the AMCAS for that.

You don't need a contact person for a hobby. Be prepared to be asked about it at an interview. I know someone who will ask, "what would you cook for me if I came over to your place."

You have more EC than I did and I got in... You'll be ok and at the end of the day GPA and MCAT will make or break you
