i wanted to give back to the sdn community for helping me out so here's my breakdown
bio 22
gc 24
oc 26
pat 24
rc 24
qr 24
ts 24
aa 24
took the kaplan course june-mid july (delayed a bit cause classes cancelled so many times), did all their junk. then, i studied on my own from there on until this morning.
like people say, kaplan classroom was a waste of time, but it was helpful in getting the basics down.
bio-kaplan class/workshops/tests/book, cliffs twice, destroyer twice, achiever, topscore
-only bio classes i took were: intro bio class, biochem, physio
-i thought bio was pretty hard actually.. didn't know about 10 questions and tried to make educated guesses. cliffs is definitely good..for about 80% of the bio. other 10% would be from practice tests, and the last 10% i dunno.
gc-same as bio, and chad's videos, chem major if that means anything
-the videos were probably the most helpful, then destroyer?
-straightforward for the most part i guess...
oc-same as bio, and chad's videos
-same as gc--chad's videos were definitely the best resource, then destroyer road maps.
pat-i thought it was slightly harder than cdp, it pissed me off a little
rc-did a bit of that search and destroy stuff.. i changed my method a bit for the last practice test and the actual test by trying to read 2-3 questions in advance and then looking for the answers, but actually reading as i go along. i would always try to keep 3 unanswered questions in my head. for example, if i ended up answering the third question first, i would keep the 1st, 2nd, 4th question in my head, etc.
-thankfully, a good chunk of the questions were in chronological order
qr-used the same materials, and cdm
-there always seems to be tricky questions that i don't have any idea on how to approach--for those, educated guesses are probably the best. my advice to you all, do a lot of timed practice math sections so you can finish on time. that's probably why the low scores come up to be honest.
overall-after finishing up the bio portion of the test, i just didn't feel like trying anymore cause i thought my bio score would suck really, really hard and i would have to retake the test later anyway. studying is important and everything, but i believe endurance is just as important. for that reason, i took a topscore test each day before the actual test day. i took the other tests on mon, wed, fri.
here are my scores for all the practice tests i took in order:
test--bio/gc/oc/pat/rc/qr/ts/aa
kaplan diag--14/19/17/18/19/22/16/18
kaplan midterm--16/16/17/20/18/20/16/17
kaplan final--19/19/19/21/18/23/19/20
kaplan test 2--19/20/19/23/18/21/19/19
kaplan test 3--20/20/19/22/22/22/20/21
kaplan test 1--19/19/19/22/18/23/19/20
achiever 1-17/20/18/18/21/22/19/20
achiever 2-17/18/17/20/19/22/18/19
achiever 3-17/18/19/20/22/23/18/20
topscore 1-17/20/19/21/21/23/19/20
topscore 2-20/21/23/22/20/20/21/21
topscore 3-17/23/19/23/25/22/19/21
cdp scores ranged from 22-26 (one every saturday and sunday, one day before test day)
cdm scores were in the low 20's (just about one a day for the last week of studying)
as you can see, my bio scores from these practice tests were disgusting so don't get discouraged AT ALL from all of your hard work... PLEASE. just do the best you can and the results will show. it's probably a good thing i took those topscore tests just days before the actual test cause i couldn't reschedule even if i wanted to anyway...
hm... what else to add... i won't be applying this cycle even though i'll be a senior because i thought my gpa wasn't good enough and i didn't want to submit a half-assed application. probably will find a job for the gap year to get some of that application money.
if you have any questions, i'll be more then happy to answer them. i hope i didn't leave anything important out. personal thanks to denner, his thread gave me the hope i needed for this test. i think i'll go eat some steak and enjoy my 2 days of summer now.
