Hi everyone,

I was planning on taking cell biology this Spring Semester at a university near my home. I'm taking a year off (just finished undergrad) and so I'm considered a "continuing education student" at the university since it's not the one I got my degree from (I was OOS as an undergrad).

Anyways, I just found out that I've been closed out of the course! This is the only university I could find remotely near me that offered Cell Bio, and now I'm starting to freak out that I would be able to fulfill the Cell Bio requirement for some of the vet schools i applied to (i.e. for MSU and UTK)!

My questions are:

1) Is "Molecular and Cell Biology" the same thing as Cell Biology? I know this sounds stupid, but a bunch of colleges offer this but not straight "Cell Bio". I wish they would be more straightforward with the naming...

2) Does anyone know of/has anyone taken an online cell biology course that is accepted?

Thank you SO much! I'm in ultra panic mode right now. Any help would be much appreciated!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Dont freak out just yet. Most professors will let you into the class with a "closed class card" or something similar, there are normally 2-3 drops in the first week and profs normally dont have a problem admitting extra students to upper level classes. I would inquire about this first.

Secondly, I know that as far as my classes go my Cell Biology class is a Bio 305 class where as my Molecular and Cell Biology class is Bio 200A- aka Gen bio, this could be different though at your school though, you should ask.

Good Luck!

Are we talking about Michigan's Eukaryotic Cell Bio pre-req?
Because I asked them earlier this seaon about online course equivalents and they said that Minnesota had an accepted course. BIOL 4004 I believe it was. But I would ask to be sure...but you might want to look into it 🙂

Thank you both for your suggestions! I'm gonna explore those both now...

Just learned that I need this upper division eukaryotic cell biology course as well and am scrambling a bit in attempt to find a class that fits.

Thank you for the BIOL4004 suggestion.
