my gpa is 3.1
sgpa 2.9

shadowing for 200h.

my shots are NYU BU TUFTS NOVA USC

how do u guys think my possibility for that schools?

is it better to apply in may with my low gpa
than take some easy classes in summer semester and boost
my gpa and apply on august?(i am planning to take
some easy biology and physics classes to boost my sgpa this
summer)

have fun with all ur study SDN people! :luck:

I would recommend that you apply early. That would help you so much more than a little bump in your GPA.

I think your chances look pretty good. Good luck.

chances aren't bad, but aren't the best either...you don't have a solid lock

Apply early like you planned, at this point, don't worry about taking easy classes to boost your sgpa...they will realize what you are doing and frown upon it.

Apply early, and in the meantime give serious thought to retaking the dats, 20+ score will do wonders for your app.

With your gpa, you're going to need to retake the DAT and score 20+ on all sections. Also, apply the very first chance you get, sooner the better.

The 2007 cycle will be the most competitive, as it keeps getting harder and harder to get in...apparently more people are wanting to be dentists than they can take....for good reasons too. I think all those schools you've listed have uped their admission requirements after seeing the results of this cycle. Its definitely been harder to get into the seemingly "easy" schools this cycle from the experiences of a lot of people. I say go for it and try, it can't hurt to apply...just apply to a lot.

I also think you should you should consider re-taking the DAT. Studying you're @ss of and getting 20+'s will help your app and prove that you have the desire to succeed in D-school.

I think you should add Indiana and Creighton to your list as well, and maybe drop Nova. If you're a NYS resident then I'd add Buffalo.

your gpa is solid, your dat is solid, your enthusiasm is solid, your attitude is solid, in fact the only thing thats not solid right now is your name.

knicksfever?????? 😕

retake the dat...crush it and get higher then 20. your score is good, but not great enough to offset the slightly low gpa.

also do some volunteer work (non-dental) if you haven't already. it looks awesome! 👍

but aside from that, if you apply early you should be good.

Anytime your GPA dips below a 3.0 you could find yourself in trouble! Remember that the number of applicants are getting more and more each year and if trends remain, next year will be nuts! UCSF went from 1200 apps in 2003 to almost 2000 apps this year! Some schools might even toss your app away after seeing a sub 3.0 as an initial filter for the thousands of apps they get. My advice is to :

1) retake the DAT and kick it in the balls! Get 20+ across the board
2) Apply to quite a few schools. I'd say about 10 or maybe even a few more.
3) Apply as early as possible (I.E. May 15th)
4) Add Temple to your list

Good luck.

May 15th of the year before you plan to start. ie May 15th 2006 if you want to start dental school in the Fall of 2007. AADSAS open's the application process on or around that day.

I disagree. Take those courses and get your GPA up as high as possible. Nobody knows for sure what adcoms will think or how they will choose to judge something..
