Hello, My science gpa would be around 3.2-3.3 and my gpa would be around 3.4

i just took my dat and my scores were
PA: 23
QR: 19
RC: 19
Biology: 18
GChem: 20
Orgo:21
TS: 19
AA: 19

now... first of all, altho some people may think this is low. i am very proud of myself 🙂 i just want some input to if I should retake it?? I think i can get into A dental school even though not TOP dental school but what do you guys think?

also with experiences and stuff I think im prettty good too because I have worked as a dental assistant. I am volunteering current at my university in a free clinic for two years. I am active in my pre dental club and I am prob going to get a pre-dental board position.

You're a below average applicant (not b/c of your DAT scores but due to your below avg. GPA) but if you don't think you could do better, I wouldn't suggest you retake it. However, I wouldn't be surprised at all if you got accepted but you're treading a fine line w/ those stats. Nonetheless, you have an awesome set of scores congrats!

Agh. Now I'm really doubting my scores... I like read all the Dat forums I think and most ppl have 20+ I'm so discouraged...

19AA is the average for the accepted applicant (meaning people get in with less.) So you're by no means subpar when it comes to your DAT scores. It's really *only* your GPA that is going to hold you back. Don't get me wrong, you definitely have a shot and its absolutely worth taking; like I said, I wouldn't be surprised at all if you received an acceptance especially with what appears to be solid ECs backing up your application. 👍

You can try and apply now. You have a chance. Once you send all applications and waiting for the reply, try and study forma retake. If you get in, great. If not, then at least you did not waist your time and you will be ready for a retake. Good luck.

AHHH thanks for the replies!!!! yea i think im going to apply and take chances 🙂)) thanks guys

Stats aren't everything. I had very good DAT scores, high GPA, tons of ECs etc. but I wasn't fawned over by dental schools and indeed nobody is. It all depends on how you do things. If you can get a higher score, it can't hurt your chances, but if that seems like a major pain in the ***, take your chances and try it out. Personally I'd like to only apply once and wouldn't mind re-taking the DAT, but you should consider your options and motivation level to decide what you should be doing.
