My chances of getting into dental schools?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Apply to as many as you can! Your current DAT is a little bit low for most schools so I wouldn't apply with current stats but if you do break 20s for DAT, I'm sure you will get some interviews.

Good Luck with your DAT!

Thank you!! 🙂 Are there any schools in particular I might have a better chance getting into?

I would recommend Midwestern (AZ & Illinois), BU, USC, NYU, LECOM, USN, Western, AT Still (AZ) would be a decent list. If your are URM (minority), I would rec Meharry & Howard University. Apply to your state school for sure.

And unless these are your state schools, avoid because they are not OSS friendly: Georgia, all Texas Schools, Ohio State, and Southern Illinois.

Honestly, with your stats...I would apply to 15+ schools to get a good shot.

Thank you Impulse155 and Tangymoose!!

Yeah, that 3.0 science gpa hurts. I thought I would post the average admission stats for last year. I think it will give you a better idea what you should be aiming for in order to become a competitive applicant for dental schools. Here are the numbers:

Best of luck.👍

That's a good bit of hurdles to come back from and overcome. I'm sure that you can do it if you really want to though. Others here have.

Is your science gpa 3.0+ or are you rounding? Many schools have an initial screening process and if you have a 2.98 you'll likely be eliminated without anyone even looking at your app.

The DAT is probably your best chance. If you get a 20+ then you'll have a decent shot. Take several months to study as hard as you can!
