Hey guys. These are my stats so far. My GPA comes out to like a 2.9. I was thinking of switching majors to STS which is easier and applying to dental. Do I have a chance to get in with upward trend and like a 22 DAT? If I continue getting straight A's at this rate I'll graduate with a 3.26. Do I have a chance anywhere? Will I get looked down upon for majoring in STS (society technology and science)? Thank you!!

Is 2.9 your GPA including all the courses you failed? How many semesters have you completed, only 3?

Yeah its including those courses... No I completed 6 semesters, just came back 2 semesters ago... aiming to continue getting straight A's and hopefully getting 3.2 gpa by the time Im done. Is that even looked at? Thanks for your response

I just dont want to switch to STS if I don't get into dental or if a good GPA in STS means nothing you know?

I am also in the process of applying so I've been doing my research and I am sure if you do great on the DAT (20+) and you do get to a 3.2..they will look at your application. Also, since you have an upward trend that will impress them. I am not sure if you should switch your major to something easy just to improve your GPA, that might be a red flag (my guess).
BTW how is your science GPA?

GPA of 2.9 will likely not work out for you. 3.2 you will struggle, some get in and some don't. A couple of my friends were successful, others weren't.

Thanks man, I was worried about that as well so idk :/ I was hoping to get into NYU so we'll see. But my science GPA is a 3.26 currently... aiming to bring it up to at least 3.4 by the time I graduate. So you don't think doing an easy major is a good idea?

Yeah I'll probably bank on the 3.2... thanks man

BTW GOOD LUCK IN YOUR PROCESS I HOPE YOU GET IN TO WHEREVER YOU DESIRE. 🙂

Well your science GPA is higher than mine so I think if you can get it to a 3.4 and your oGPA to over 3.0..you might be able to get into NYU. And no I don't think switching your major is a good idea unless you are really passionate about it. You've come this far, keep going and you'll do great. Work hard because hard work pays off.
AND thank you so much! I hope you get in to wherever you desire as well.
