Here's the situation for my guys...

I go to Cornell University and these are my grades in the sciences:

BIO 1: A
ANATOMY: A
PHYSIOLOGY: A
CHEM 1: B-
CHEM 2: B-
PHYS 1: C- (taken over the summer where the professor did not curve the class)
STATISTICS: B

This past summer I shadowed an optometrist.

I know that SUNY (my top choice) gives the early decision option which I believe I meet the criteria for. However, does the fact that I have not yet taken the OAT and those 3 prereqs stand in my way of applying? Also, what do the veterans think my chances are based on the above info. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

My overall GPA is 3.6
I believe my science is around a 3.2

Good GPA + Good OAT = Good chance.

So, if you have a good OAT then you'll be fine.

As long as you've shadowed some optometrist; and got decent stats (3.5+gpa and 330+ oat), then you should be accepted to SUNY without any problem. Good luck.

If you've been getting any decent amount of experience, I wouldn't be surprised if you got at least an interview.

Once you've got the interview (which you have a good chance at), you should really only worry about showing them that you have competent interpersonal skills. Of course, this is all speculation as I'm in the same boat as you, but that's the advice I've been given.
