Well I just took the DAT and didn't do as well as I wanted to.

AA:18

With a 3.6 overall, 3.4 science and a 3.25 BCP do I even have a shot? Obviously it'd be too late to redo the DAT in 3 months... I already submitted my AADSAS May 20... so I guess we'll have to just wait and see... What do you guys think?

Your GPA is slightly above average and your DAT is below average. Go kill your interview and separate yourself.

Do you guys have documentation of what the DAT average is? I've seen some old-ish data (maybe 2005-06?) saying that the average is 17.5. Just curious.
As for the OP's question, I'd just apply to as many schools as possible if you're doubting your scores.

I take my test in two weeks and would kill for your scores. 18 is the average to the majority of dental schools according to predents.com. anyways even if the average is a 19 or 20 there has to be people who have below he average DAT scores, and that could be you.

I agree, more or less. Your DAT could definitely be better, though I don't know if it is technically below average. Not doubting Jon, just haven't seen data.

If you have a specific school in mind, you should call them up and ask. Otherwise, you will get into at least a few schools with your DAT.

I'm a Montana resident and applied to UoP, USC, Minnesota, UNLV, Arizona, Temple, Case, Nova, Boston, Indiana, Loma Linda, OHSU, Maryland, VCU

should I add anywhere else?
No interviews yet.. lol. Today I'm just sending off secondaries with a butt load of money... man this is pricey. The 75 dollars sure do add up.

IIIII SEEEEEEEE YOOOOOOOOOU, just kidding. I think Creighton is a big RDEP/IDEP school so you may want to think about them. My friend at BYU just got rejected from NOVA today (GPA 3.5 / DAT 17/17/19) and I think his DAT killed him. I applied before him and I haven't gotten a rejection letter yet (fingers crossed) so there's still hope. Have you heard back from case yet? (got rejected myself last week). Are you on predents?

I applied to Midwestern today and I am thinking about Howard. What do you know about them? How come thir stats are so low? I am on predents.. my name is "airsimon". I was counting on getting an interview at Case because that's every BYU students backup school, isn't it? I've heard of a ton of guys getting rejected from Case already. My brother-in-law just graduated from there a few years ago.
We'll see what happens.

Howards is basically a school for (African-American) minorities. I didn't realize until I visited their website. "What's with all the pictures of black people?"

Yeah, I think Case just got a lot more competitive this year and last for some reason. I think that it used to be a BYU backup school but so far I've heard of a lot of people here getting rejected from Case. 2 yrs ago, a research collegue of mine only got accepted into case. He had a 19 DAT/19 PAT and a 3.2 GPA/3.2 sGPA. This year I had a 19 DAT/24 PAT and a 3.5 GPA/3.5 sGPA and got rejected; go figure. I have way more research experience then he had 2 yrs ago and way more extracuricular on top of that so I just think they've upped their standards this year, and they can afford to with so many applicants. Don't know that much about midwestern but yeah, Howard is a minority school ONLY (really!) which explains the low GPA and DAT average.
