Hello all,
I am curious of my chances in matching to a solid Anesthesiology program. I was planning on going into Emergency Medicine, but I've had a change of heart. I will be doing my first Anesthesia roataion in Octbober at my home school. I was elected to AOA this year, scored a 226 on Step I, and earned honors in the majority of my clinical rotations; but I realize that this is really late in the game, and I don't have any LOR's from the Anesthesiology department yet. Should I go ahead and send out my application now even though it is incomplete? What are my chances at matching in a solid University program? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You still have time to apply but it's very important you get your stuff sent out soon. Hound the doctors as politely as possible about LoR. Doctors are notorious procrastinators since they're so busy. It's a fine line because you don't want to write them too quickly and have it be generic. Explain to them your situation and that might help them expedite the letters.

Your chances are slim to none.

(What do you care what anybody on this board says??? It's not like any of us is not full of b.s. The worst thing that'll happen is you'll get rejected, and you'll back to where you were by not applying. The choice seems obvious)
