Hey you all!
I am fairly new to this website, but I just wanted to offer up a few words of encouragement to those of you still cramming for the DAT coming soon...
I just took mine today, and got a 22AA/22PAT.....AND I AM PUMPPPPPPED.....hhaha. i know the scores arent that great, but you should have SEEN my test anxiety before I went to the test. My friend was like, "Yo, Lauren, you need to BREATHE...." hahahaha...I was so freaking nervous, that I thought I was going to have to bring a paper bag with me to hyperventilate into, but, I want you all to know, that it is NOT THAT BAD. Study Kaplan like its is GOD....🙂 I had a few plant bio questions that werent covered in Kaplan--but the Bio was fairly straight forward....know the differences between all the taxonomic groups (annelids, arthropods, mulloscs...yadda yadda).....
Gen Chem--most straightforward of all the sections. Know Kaplan and you are good to go.
OChem--was my worst section -but hey, who the heck really likes Ochem...its one of those things that you either happen to know the reaction or you dont...there were definitely a few tricky ones...I got a question that was like "If A is a reactant and it reacts with B, then produces C, then C reacts with D, in the solvent E, what is the final product F?" I was like, Riiiight🙂
PAT---I didnt think it was ALL that bad, but yes, angles are definitely tough. It was super hard to discriminate--so just go with your gut instinct. 🙂
Some of the paper folding was bit tricky too....for some reason the punched holes dont look they align sometimes with the 16 hole pattern...(didnt anyone else ever think that?)
RC---was my best section (24)....I say SKIM SKIM SKIM....you will run out of time if you dont.....my three passages were: Solar system; Brain Imaging; and Neurotransmission. They were a little trickier than some practice tests...but nothing too out of the ordinary...make sure you have your eyes peeled, and just stay focused!
QR--was also not as bad as I was worried....I finished with just a few minutes to spare....a few tricky trig problems (did anyone get the one with the sun making a shadow at what angle??)...but just stay focused, and make sure you have enough scratch paper!!:
Also- i know people have mentioned this before....BUT, if you do not remember but one piece of advice for testing day, remember to bring EARPLUGS....they give you these huge uncomforable earphones to wear, so you dont want to wear those, BUT there are many others in the testing area taking their CPA/GRE/etc tests, and they are rattling away typing essays on the keyboards. Earplugs are a must. That way you are in your own dental lala land....hahahaha
Sorry for the long post....🙂 Good luck to you all....
By the way-my stats, in case anyone cares at all...are: Biochem senior, 3.98GPA --applying to: Harvard, UCLA, UWash, UNC, and Oklahoma (probably will end up a Sooner)...🙂
Good luck to all, and would be happy to answer any questions!!🙂 👍
