My EFC

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
you're considered independent by the federal methodology cause you're going to profressional school, so your FAFSA EFC is strictly based on YOUR income. you usually get a zero efc is you didnt work last year or didnt make very much money.

schools will take into account parental assets as well, so that EFC could end up not meaning much. For example, someone who has a zero EFC on the FAFSA but was in school last year and their parents made 250K last year could be worse off getting financial aid than someone (like my situation) who had an EFC of 5K and my family isn't that well off.

The FAFSA EFC is used for determining Stafford loan eligibility. With and EFC of $0, you should be able to max out the Stafford loans.

If your school has aid to give, they may (and probably will) ask for your parents' financial information and use this in calculating the school aid package.

ah..thanks for the feedback..my parents also filled out their part of the FASFA......

Mine is 00841C. what does the C mean? help.

Even if your parents fill out their portion of the FAFSA, the federal government ignores it in calculating your EFC because you are a professional/graduate student. The information will likely be used by your school in calculating whatever aid they have to give.

As for what the "C" means, I haven't the foggiest.
