Which school will land my commitment?
Wow, someone's got top tier lust. Did you actually get accepted into those schools, or are you just hopping?

When it comes time you will realize that it doesn't matter what school you go too and you will be happy that you were accepted.

lol, but my list of schools would be:
-Columbia
-Cornell
-NYU
-USF
-Upenn
-Stanford
-Mount Sinai
As you can tell i want to go to NYC extremely bad ;p

Agreed. I'll just be happy when I'm making a million per annum. Dig?

This thread is intensely boring.

Water is wet, ODB is dead, and the Soviet Union is a threat to our national sovereignty. Didn't come with the promises of P.T. Barnum, Groucho Marx, and George Carlin, did it?

USF? One of these is not like the others. (unless you mean UCSF...)

Some of my favorites from the interview trail (and a few places I didn't interview). This takes into account academics/opportunities AND social life/fun factor.

Stanford
Columbia
Mount Sinai
Penn
USC-Keck
UCSF
Jefferson
NYU
Cornell

I got a strong NYC leaning too. But that's just because you can't really beat the city for social opportunities 🙂

funny, I had the opposite opinion of NYC. I really like NYU as a school, and found the neighborhood a fun place to visit, but felt like I needed a trust fund to live around there, subsidized housing or not. Philly (a place I'd never been to prior to interviewing) had everything NYC did, but in smaller quanitities and at half the cost.

/if I was one of those who had parents paying for everything New York would be a lot more desirable

I'm but a freshman. Just posting my schools of interest.

Hey jm, you're from Bowling Green? I used to live in Russelville, KY like 15 minutes away. Small world...

you left out SUNY Downstate.. although it's kind of fake NYC

Fake NYC? That's rude.

Einstein, Downstate, NYMC, Stony Brook, NYCOM, etc.

They may not be in Manhattan, but the living expenses are cheaper since they're either in outer boroughs or in suburbs, and you're within a decent distance of the city (except Stony Brook, that's pretty far out on Long Island, but still do-able.)

Hate to burst your bubbles, but it's med school, you won't have as much time as you'd like for the "social opportunities" of NYC.

And a freshman giving us his opinions on what schools he wants to go to? Ughhhh. 🙄

I would choose Stanford over any of those silly east coast schools. Northern CA for the win. 😀 The people and surrounding areas fit my personality. However, Stanford will reject me. So **** em.

This thread... lol.

I'll be waiting to hear back from you in 3 years, OP.

lol. srsly?
Los Angeles; great football; beautiful weather; beautiful women. Probably would be better than all the rest. They're all the same; some just have uneducated social stigmas of higher intelligence.

Not sure why the premise of this thread is funny.

Okay.

It's funny that a pre-med with only one semester under his belt already has a list of med schools picked out, it why.

Come talk to us when you have a clue, my friend.

I'm a Philly native so I whole-heartedly agree. Though, living in NYC is admittedly a much different cultural experience than living in Philly. Philly's great/amazing/love it...but NYC is hard to compare to. Plus, I lived in Philly for 22 years, so was slightly biased not to stay 🙂

That's awesome. Did you know any of the kids in the LLWS a few years back when they made their run?

I've been all up and down KY. I'm originally from itty bitty town KY, spent a little bit in Owensboro, then moved to BG for college(WKU), and now I'm @ Louisville. Bowling Green>>>>>everywhere else.

On something more related to the OP:

How many serious posters post a list of schools they're considering AS A FRESHMAN, let alone a list of top schools.

This kid will end up attending Troll U. Please, do not feed.
:troll:

i had similar expectations (except for the beautiful women) b4 i moved to LA. it still seems okay in general. however, after doing research near usc for more than a year I decided not even to apply

hey, off topic... how bad is it out there? I'm on the west coast for break and pissed that I've been relegated to watching the motor city bowl instead of the Eagles tonight.

Blizzard-y wonderfulness.

Though I do miss the Cali/Palo Alto winter weather. 60's and sunny every once in a while isn't so bad. 🙂

South Harmon Institute of Technology will be opening up their medical school next year. Add that to the list.

I'm pissed I'm missing the Eagles, too. 😡

It's been snowing pretty heavily for a good 12-13 hours now, and it's really windy and it's causing a lot of drifting. We don't have the freaky thundersnow that NYC is apparently getting right now, and it's not as bad as the blizzards we had last year, but it's still really nasty.

freaky thundersnow is about right. started this morning, won't be stopping til bout 6 pm tomorrow, supposedly.

We'll end up with about 15-20 inches by the end of it all.

My very short break from med school has been officially ruined. thanks, snow!!!!

My opinion is that most of you guys are douchebags. That said, I don't mind, because I'm a bigger douchebag, and I know you'll never beat me in being the biggest douchebag.

However, I think most of you guys are pretty dumb, to be honest. Not much free thinking. You guys think this and that is impossible. You guys think the dude with the big ego is going to fall flat on his face. You're wrong.

rocketsurgeon pretty much covered it. I'd just like to add in after finishing the grueling primary and secondaries that senior year feeling of "I just wanna be a doc PLEASE LET ME IN" intensifies.

At least you're honest.
