Would anyone be willing to give me advice on trimming my personal statement or reviewing my PS? I know that the AMCAS limit is 5300 characters including spaces and mine is twice that length right now....

What is the content of your personal statement? Does it include anything that you have included in your other areas of application like work/activities area? If so, then it is unnecessary repetition and wouldn't look good in your personal statement so take it off. Also, If you are describing what qualities would make you a good doctor (such as being patient, helpful, good listener..etc) then that's unnecessary. Adcom can see your qualities from your activities and work you have done. Focus more on PERSONAL stories that have motivated you to be a doctor or why you want to be a doctor? I found it really attention grabbing to describe a story of mine that motivated me to be a doctor. I put myself in the place of Adcom to see if I would be interested in my own personal statement and found it really interesting to read. By removing these, you will have shorter essay. If you haven't included any of what I said, then there gotta be a problem since it is TWICE the length which is a lot!

Actually, the personal stories are what is making it too long... and also, I don't mention anything my AMCAS application would already tell them....

I'm just trying to help out. Is it more than one story? If so, maybe reduce it to just one since the space does not permit more than one story. Is it merely focused on relationship to medicine? If no, then maybe reduce the length and focus on how it relates to your motivation to medicine.

I can take a look at it. I'm sure you have a lot of sentences and thoughts that can be excluded from your ps.

You are telling too many personal stories if it is double! Try to find the most relevant topics you want to talk about and see if you can weave them into a coherent story. Take out whatever doesn't fit in
