I think I might do poorly on this rotation.
 
Wait, who said what? You wished them an interesting night on call? Were they serious when they responded? I guess now you have to use neutral words like "good" call....but that's a pretty lame preceptor if they get that easily offended.
 
Haha...maybe a simple "thanks" would have sufficed in this situation 😉

Why wouldn't you want an interesting night on call? You would prefer to sleep only and get no experience? I think what he was offering was a compliment, a legitimate hope that you would do good work, learn something, and be involved.

I probably would have said thanks...
