1) need some advice, not sure if i should retake the dat my PAT score is pretty low
my gpa is 3.6 science 3.2 - advice?
2) iam posting these scores for anyone who got lower than a 16
getting a AA of 20 can be done set up a schedule and stick to it
i studied for two months the second time around about 4 hours a day. Just don't give up!
The DAT
well science was on par with Kaplan and topscore. i used kaplans course book, the princeton review MCAT 1997 ED. barrons and topscore.
I found the the princeton review do be the most helpful, the science sections are great, with the exception that the org chem section is incomplete, they leave alot of synthesis out. I used this and did most of the questions at the end of each chapter in kaplans course book --- very helpful
PAT well it sucked, i was scoring a consistent 19/20 on kaplan and topscore, the actual dat PAT is a lot harder so be prepared.
angles were okay, watch out for hole punching alot of the holes don't align from the folded image to the unfolded - i was completely stumped.
The first two sections on the PAT were a little harder than topscore so try to manage your time well.
QR - i just dunno used kaplan gre book, i can't believe i screwed that up. I had about 7 word problems, 3 trig but simple stuff, a lot easier than topscore and kaplan, i suggest working on arithmetic, speed up your calculations.
sciences well, if you haven't had higher level biology i suggest using GRE biology books they usually have about three sample exams, about 100 questions a piece. The DAT has similar type questions, exceptions graphs images etc.
Chem I suggest using princeton review explanations are a lot better than kaplan, and there problem solving strategies are alot easier than Kaplan too. just remember if you use this book, the chem and org chem are incomplete! - you will have to go back to kaplan, but i think this book is definitely worth looking over, especially if u used the kaplan book and still feel a bit fuzzy on certain details.
well, hope this helps!
