Hey guys,
I am currently in the BU mams program. I feel like **** because I have already messed up—taking only 12 units (un-graded 4 units in research)—receiving a B in biochem (6 units) and a B+ in an elective course (2 units). I don’t know what went wrong—I thought that I had been studying very hard and even felt as if I did well on my biochem final exam, however, I ended up getting a B on the final. I feel so low—here are my stats:

Undergrad: 3.45 (3.2 science)
Mcat: haven't taken it
EC:
1 year bio research--didn't do much—ecology research
1 year honors socio research--grad with honors
1 year gchem tutor
2 years free health clinic medical volunteer--150 hours
3 years student government--received student of the year award

I have just been hired as a research assisant in this clinical resarch study. I’m enrolled to take physio, endo, and immo—but beause of my downslope--I am reconsidering my career in medicine because I’m so scared I’m not going to get in—especially since my grad gpa is looking worst than my undergrad gpa.

hey there OP, which physio track are you in right now? i'd suggest you do the histo and physio in the spring followed by taking only endo. a lot of people (when i was in the program) ended up dropping immuno anyways around week 2. it's a LOT of work for merely 2 credits (which isn't going to do much).

don't feel to bad about how you did in fall semester. i think most people improve a lot during spring semester. the profs running GMS classes (like biochem) make this class about 3X harder than what the actual medstudents take (ie they didnt have to calculate pKa...which is a pretty imp part of biochem right?). they do this to "weed out" (in a sense) those who aren't willing to put in the work so you did alright. hang in there!! it's a tough program but it certainly does reward those who really want what the program is designed to do...and that's get people into medschool. gluck!!! :luck:

heyyy 🙂 thanks for the encouraging words. 🙂 Do you think it is wise for me to take physio and histo if i didn't do so hott taking only biochem in the fall? also--i haven't ever taken physio (even as an undergrad)--will i be okay?
