Hey, guys. Could you give me some advice?
I applied about 20 dental schools. I only had one interview at Nova in January and I am still waiting from 17 other dental schools. My application was complete in July and I took my DAT in August. My GPA when I applied was 3.72 and science GPA was 3.78. The problem is my 2007 fall semester grade was bad and I am not updating my fall semester grade right now. I tried to retake my DAT again after my winter break but my reading is not improving so I just decided to wait from Nova. Do you think that I still have a chance of getting in this year? I know few people having lower stats than mine got in schools i applied. I am really depressed 🙁

Orgo 20
Gen chem 20
Reading 16 (English is my second language)
Quantitative 18
PAT 17
Total science 20

Not updating your fall semester grades could just slow the process down. Some schools will require that information before they give your application any more thought.

I think your stats are pretty good, so there must be some other flaw in your app. Remember adcoms aren't just looking at GPA and DAT. I also think your PAT score may be hurting you.

Your application statistically is very good. Since English is a second language for you could it be that you don't interview well?😕 Another possibility is maybe the personal statement is not compelling to adcoms?

Your DAT scores are solid. Maybe you don't have enough or compelling extracurriculars.😕

I have few extra curriculum activities (I don't know whether this is good amount) and I did shawdowing about 70 hours. I also put down my high school extracurriculum activities on my application although this will not help a lot.

I got B in entomology and genetics, and C+ in political science and C in sociology. I know this is bad. My non science grades are worse.
So, do you think I should send them my fall semester grade?? If I have to send, I am planning to write a letter to let them know why my fall semester grades are bad as I had to complete many supplemental applications (essays).

Actually, I had one interview at Nova and I felt I did okay. I know my personal statement is not compelling, but people read my essay told me it is just decent. I am so desperate right now 🙁

These are Non science courses.... so by saying your non science grades are worse I have to assume that you have gotten some D's and F's? If so how on earth do you have such a high gpa... Second question is when exactly did you apply? 3rd if your friends are saying your personal statement is decent..... that probably means it is not that good (they probably don't want to hurt your feelings?) So hopefully you get in this year... but if you don't make sure you rewrite your essay, and definately apply early...... your app should go out on June 1..

As I said, I got B in Entomology and Genetics which are science grades. I got C+ in political science and C in sociology which are Non Science grades. That means my Non science grades are worse than those science grades in 2007 fall semester. And My GPA was 3.72 and science 3.78 before my 2007 fall semester. But now my GPA is 3.6 and science 3.67.
I submitted my application in June 11th and I took my DAT in August.
And I also think that my personal statement was decent, but because I tried to submit my application early, I just submitted my application with my decent personal essay. It could be worse than decent, but I am not sure though.
But anyway, thank you for your advice and Hopefully I get into Nova as you did.

Do schools know if you are still in undergrad ?

Then, the applicants ,who are currently in undergrad, don't get the 1st round admission considerations since they still have to update their transcript??

If the answer is YES, maybe you should update your transcript....

I also was hesitant to submit my Fall grades (they are horrible) but the best thing to do is to send them. I didnt want schools to wait for my grades bec. that would just hold them back from replying until it might be too late

Did you send your transcript to AADSAS or directly to each school??
If I send my transcript to AADSAS, I believe it is going to take about two weeks for process. Should I send my transcript directly to each school??

my semester grades weren't available until january 8/9 to be sent out so i had my school send to all the schools directly in addition to AADSAS. if you're concerned about timing, i would recommend doing that.
