I got a 27 twice V 9 PS 9 B 9, and a 9 10 8, Its below my average on my practice tests... When I go to take it, I usually spaz out because of stress and the 8 am time. I have a 3.4 science gpa, and I have 5 strong recs, a lot of Work and Activities. I am in illinois, and I have my app done. But, I am not sure if I should take it one more time later in the year and reapply to some better allopathic schools. Or settle with the lower tier schools, loyola, rosalind, UIC, rush, NYMC.
What other schools would fit?
I am not sure... I think its worth a try...

This should be posted in "What Are My Chances?" thread.

To answer your question though, you definitely should hold off. The fact that you have scored 27 twice is really going to count against you. You need to retake after some hardcore studying. To get past the 8AM + test stress, take tons of practice MCATs at 8AM like the real deal. More strategies can be found in the MCAT Forum.

More importantly, even if you retake with moderate success (~30), I would highly recommend throwing in some DO schools in addition to the less selective MD schools. I wouldn't suggest putting in too many middle/higher tier MD schools because with a 3.4 and multiple 27s (even with a future 30 MCAT), it will be very hard to achieve success with these schools.

However, this can all be overcome with hard work. If you want med school badly and really put in the time on the next MCAT and application cycle, good things will happen! Best of luck to you!
