Well, I have an illness that causes a lot of pain among other symptoms. Anyways, I was have really bad issues with this last semester so I asked my professor for an Incomplete and he said it would be fine. I was doing fine in the class too. Then at the last minute he got mad and said that too many people were asking for incompletes so he isnt giving them out. So he ended up failing me at the last minute. I had my doctors send short letters attached to a exception form. I do not know if it will be enough for them to give me a "W" or take the grade off of my record. They haven gotten back to me in weeks. My grades already aren't so great because of being sick. But I am fine with that for now. I am working on raising my gpa. But this mess is just uncalled for. What should I do??? :scared:

Check with the prof to confirm that he received the medical letters and to check how your grade is being handled. If you aren't getting the W, go over his/her head to the dean right away.

First off, please dont write in that font, it's hard to read.

Second, go talk to your academic advisor. He should be able to help you. If he doesnt, go to the department that your class was within (biology, etc.) and state your case. Even if they cant help you, they can at least point you in a better direction than one of us on SDN can (considering you havent mentioned the name of your school.)

A few questions to clarify the situation:

You said you were doing fine in the class, and then what -- did you stop doing the work, going to class, etc., when you found out you could incomplete it? Was your grade really an F at this point? (You make it sound like the prof gave you an F out of spite; is that the case?)

Was it a verbal agreement between you and the professor, or was there any paperwork involved? Any emails that you might have saved where he agreed to this?

Do you know what happened to the other people who asked for incompletes?

If there was email correspondence then that can be used to change the grade. May be also helpful to consult the department about this. But if the school is anything like my school. Once grades have been submitted, and there are no proof of a error in calculation, then they are there forever.

But yea, if you have email correspondence, then that is probably a good reason to change it to an "I".

hope it works out, i had a similar situation after a car accident. I found out This is one reason schools have an omsbudsmans office. contact them, tell them the situation forward the emails and they can get on the prof for you.

No, I wasn't getting an F in the course. I was getting a B. Yes, I have an e-mail as well. I included a copy of that with my paperwork I sent in.

I think you should be fine then.

At my school, grades can be changed at any point -- even a year or more later. I didn't know that it was different elsewhere. Huh.

Yea thats justifiable then. Go in with your guns blazing..err...papers blazing. Show the department that you were getting a B, the professor approved switching to an incomplete, and you had medical reasons for withdrawing. That would be a textbook case to ask for an incomplete. The professor probably forgot. Its understandable that they are busy, but I feel somewhat annoyed that he/she would forget something like that, even if too many people were asking for an incomplete.

Oh well thats life I guess. Good luck to you. I think you shouldn't have any problems with getting an incomplete 👍 :luck:
