Hey all,
I'm just wondering if anyone can explain the key difference btwn myocardial stunning and ischemic preconditioning?
From what I know, preconditioning is just training the cardiac myocytes rely on less oxygen.
Myocardial stunning involves ischemia for a short period of time before any irreversible damage occurs.
So does this mean stunning is a pathological event, whereas preconditioning is a protective event? Is there actually a difference?
Thanks!
