This data is available publicly to some degree and behind paywalls. I would advise starting there and meeting with a mentor/advisor that knows something about medical school admissions to get a candid evaluation of where you stand from a competitiveness perspective. From there, you can make a list of schools depending on how competitive you are (less competitive = longer list, more competitive = shorter list) with a blend of “safety,” on-par, and “reach” schools. The factors that go into what schools specifically make it to your list will be highly individualized. Common things people take into account are location, cost, class size, and anything unique to that specific school that is appealing to you (e.g., specific aspects of the curriculum, the ability to do a dual-degree, etc.).
