Name that Dog!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hmmm, the list of names I went through for my dog before he finally ended up with Splat. He was called many of these names for a week or so before trying a different one out. In fact his first vet records have the name DoJigger listed.

DoJigger
Mudslide
Falcor
Gideon
Beowulf
Mikito, Mikoto
Nishanu
Phoenix
Buca
Denaka
Zambuca
Mulish, Defiant
Mukito, Mukoto
Canis, inu, ken
Dekito, Dekoto
Fagan
Donovan
Ditka
Bantam
Saxby
(I was going for something along the lines of defiant/fiery prince/nobleman. Ended up with Splat instead, lol.)

My cat was easier and was named Yukina almost right away. You might notice I like slightly weird names. 🙂

Whatever you do, don't name him Sullivan. That dog name is cursed with eating expensive things, and surfing counters. Bad name. Bad bad name.

I named a fish Sullivan. He died 🙁

But I don't think it's the name that's cursed, it's because I named him. Everything I name dies......

When I first saw him, I thought he looked like a "Beanie". Why? Who the heck knows...

I also thought of "Choc"; that's a cute name.

Let us know when you decide!

Come on, Come on.......What's his name???? You can't just keep saying 'Cute little Cocker.....Come'..........

The suspense is killing me.

Or Elessar?
Nah, prolly too geeky.

I ALMOST named my GSD puppy Elessar last year. Went with Turin instead. His sister that I got this year is Nienor. (Anyone that gets that reference gets 1000 bonus points from me.) 😀

Definitely excited to hear what the little Cocker's name is....

Figured it was from deep in the silmarillion and whatnot, but had to google/ wiki for sure.

You out geek me. Thank you.

Sorry, we've been out of town for the weekend. My brother got married and I was the Best man.

Anyway, I thought long and hard about it. I tried out a few names and picked the one he responded to the best. I was scientific about it, using the same tone!😛 After reading the responses I am a little iffy on my choice! I decided to name him "Sully". Since it isn't Sullivan, maybe he'll be ok. At either rate, I'm just a poor country boy and don't have anything expensive to chew up! A pair of Eye -tal-yun shoes that cost an arm and a leg... it'll never happen! I'd just be livin too high on the hog then! (Not to mention I would just end up stepping in something with them!!)

Thanks to everyone for your input. I have banked some names away for future pets! Y'all are great!😀

lazyjan, what is a silmarillion? Heartsong, if I ever get a really small dog, I would have to name it Bantam! I love my bantam chickens.

Oh hoho- you've done it now- when he eats the keys to your car/ truck/ rowboat, and the only way to get them out is exploratory surgery, don't say I didn't warn you.

silmarillion are all the "other" books tolkien wrote with the stories of his world. geeky, no?

He totally looks like a "Sully". Good luck with that....pretty sure that still counts as 'Sullivan':laugh:

Sweeeeeet....it was the SoCo and Lime reference that did it, huh? J/K 😀

As long as he doesn't eat my $900 parrot, I will be fine!😀 Maybe the vet will let me get in there on my on dog! Sorry, I don't read much!

Awww, Sully! I'm glad he finally has a name! 😀

And I feel that I should warn you to keep him away from sewing supplies. Last Sully we had at the clinic was a JRT that had eaten not 1, not 2, but 3 sewing needles, all attached to threads. Helloooooo FB surgery! The rads were wicked cool though...And I'm happy to report that Sully's doing fine, it's his owners who are recovering (or rather, their bank accounts are! 😛)

However, based on all the 'Sullivan' stories, I think it's safe to say that they are very resilient...Best of luck to you and your Sully! 😀
