Hey everyone!

I used a few first names in my personal statement and activities section. The names are of course pseudonyms because of HIPAA and it's only the first name so I don't think it's anything identifying. Do I need to use quotations every time I use a name? Or is it assumed its a pseudonym? I'm asking because I keep hearing mixed things on this. A friend of mine told me he never used quotes for the names and he got into multiple medical schools. Main thing is that adding quotations will add a lot of characters and it could actually put me just over the character limit for a few activities in my activity section. Also, quotation marks are just not that aesthetically pleasing. I would like to hear all of your opinions, especially from someone on an ADCOM! @Goro @LizzyM What's your opinion on not having quotes around first names in the application?

Using a short pseudonym and putting it in quotes the first time you use it seems like it would take up very little space. "Tim", "Ted" "Xia" "Liz" I don't see the problem. Cut back to 3 letter names and use quotation marks just once and you should be fine.
