Naplex Calculator - hand held

Hi All,

Last time i took Naplex the center did not provide me a calculator! when i asked for a physical one they read out an instruction that they have from NABP which read out saying no calc will be provided. I did not argue with them as i was already tensed. when i look up the Naplex bulletin i see they are supposed to provide one. did anyone had this issue? how did you guys do? i am not very comfortable using the online one and it confuses me...

When did you take it? I don't think people are allowed to use hand held calculators anymore. The testing center was right not to hand you one. The new rules require everyone to now use the online calculator. If you ask me, I actually think the online calculator is good. It has all the functions you need and you can use your keyboard to enter the numbers. If you did not pass, try practicing with Google's online calculator to increase your speed before you retake the exam. Good luck.

thanks. i took it on Sep of last year. The bulletin (current one) says you can request one.

SEMI-SURE 2014:
PER NAPLEX, REAL CALCULATOR WILL BE GIVEN,
BUT, DEPENDING ON TESTING SITE, YOU MAY NOT GET.
SO, YOU MUST ASK BEFORE MAKING APPOINTMENT.

BUT, SITE MAY NOT,
So, please, YOU MUST DO YOUR DUTY TO ASK TEST SITE. I have heard from friends that some testing site are very strange, they even pull out some guide and read to my friend in 02-2014 that NAPLEX does not allow REAL CALCULATOR. 2 other friends took NAPLEX in 2013 did not get REAL CALCULATOR. So, I was very happy to read that NAPLEX LEGALLY will supply calculator. BUT, AGAIN SOME TEST CONTRACTORS MAY NOT GIVE YOU REAL CALCULATOR. CHECK PLEASE.

On page 17 of computer file (or page 13 of printed pages), at the top, I found this information about CALCULATOR:

Supplies Provided.

The administrator will provide you with an erasable note board and pen. You may
not remove these materials from the testing room at any time. Using your own scratch paper or pen is prohibited.

» NAPLEX Only: An on-screen calculator can be activated during the examination for your use. The on-screen calculator can be used in a scientific or five function mode. Please note that many of the calculations on the NAPLEX will require the on-screen scientific calculator. A candidate requesting a handheld calculator for any reason, will be supplied a five function calculator by Pearson VUE. Personal calculators of any kind are prohibited.
