It there anybody in the house that took his or her NAPLEX this month and will like to share a study tip/strategy that he/she thinks was really helpful? Over the course of time test setters changes their strategies too.
Your input will be greatly appreciated.

Took May 29. Make Calculations and Biostats a priority or "must know".

Resources Used:
2018 Rx Prep Book
2018 Rx Prep Online Practices Quizes/Videos
The Minimalist Pharmacist Blog (do yourself a favor and google it).

Study Time:
Casual Studying for about 2 months.
Intensive studying x 5 weeks prior to test date. Passed with nice cushion.

Let me know if more specific questions...

Thank you for the response.
When you studied how did you know which chapters to start with? Did you complete the book in its entirety? Did you take the prenaplex?

Sorry for all he questions... I’m just nervous. Lol thanks in advance.

Im nervous too! I have been casually studying for a couple of months now and been intensely studying for the past few weeks. I take my exam this week. Yikes!! It is recommended that you start with the chapters that you feel you are less proficient in or are difficult or very important. In my case I started with Infectious disease 1 and 2, diabetes, HTN, CHF, and calculations. Math is easy but some questions can be tricky.

I took my NAPLEX June 1 (Friday) and received my score on Tuesday afternoon. I scored an 87 on pre-naplex before serious studying and got a 102 on actual Naplex.

Studied pretty seriously for about 3 weeks and took the RxPrep comprehensive test.

I would definitely recommend studying with RxPrep if you can. It’s a good basis for most knowledge that you will need to know. Of course there’re going to be things you don’t know... but, in general, the quizzes provide you with a general level of everything that might be covered on the exam.

Test Day: you get a break at 2.5 hours, however you can actually take a break before that. Just keep in mind that the time will still be running. The calculator on the test is awesome, but you can also ask for a handheld “4-function” calculator.

Good luck to everybody out there who’s taking their exams soon!!

Did you feel it was weighted in any specific direction with topics? I take mine on June 9.

Congrats to those that passed! A few questions to those that took the exam: 1) Did you have questions pertaining to USP 800- hazardous drug compounding? 2) Were there questions pertaining to new guideline updates? Ie- Jan 2018 ADA update on dual therapy regarding ASCVD pts, Feb 2018 update regarding 1st line tx for C. difficile no longer being flagyl...I'm wondering how quickly the exam reflects new guidelines/algorithms/drugs? I graduated a few years ago and failed my exam that year because I didn't finish on time. I used Rxprep then and have used pass naplex now since last year. However, I'm feeling anxious about taking the exam again and I'm afraid that I may not have all the materials I need to properly pass now? Your responses would be appreciated!

Can I ask how you did on the RxPrep comprehensive test/quizzes before taking the Naplex? I'm taking mine in a week and scoring in the 60-80s for the quizzes. Just scored a 61% on the RxPrep comprehensive exam. What was the comparison like?

I probably ranged similar on the individual quizzes...maybe worse >.> but on the comprehensive tests (actually I had 3 through RxPrep - school purchase 2 additional for us). I scored a 71%, 71% and then a 77%.

I can’t exactly say that they’re exactly alike...but the actual Naplex questions basically covered topics that RxPrep highlighted on. Of course there are those questions that you’re going to be like “what?!?”...but in general, I felt that RxPrep did a good job in hitting most everything that is covered in the naplex!

I didn’t personally study anything outside of RxPrep! There were some questions on compounding so don’t forget to study that stuff!!

Thank you for your response! My rxprep is from 2016. That's why I'm afraid that I won't have sufficient information to pass the exam this year. The guideline changes I mentioned in my prior post were on rxprep's updates/errata page. Obviously, that didn't make the 2018 book. Did you find that those updates were tested on the exam? To clarify, when you say compounding questions do you mean USP 800 specifically? Thanks again!!

Oh gosh I feel like I already can’t remember. But maybe the better way to put it is...haha. I don’t think I really knew much about compounding prior to studying for naplex. In school it was so quickly covered (first year) and never truly applicable for me. So...I guess hazardous stuff just know the general things such as air changes, ISO levels, how to test cleanliness of everything, filter sizes...just general things! You’ve totally got this! Just study hard 😀 and Good Luck!!

I took NAPLEX 3 wks ago, graduated 7 yrs ago (foreign school grad) passed with 112 on my first attempt, ONLY studied Rxprep 2017 (nothing else including those question banks, etc), for 2 months and a few days, try to master all the biostat/calculations really well along with core chapters.

I only had a very few questions from HIV/Oncology, but still you may experience something totally different from mine!

Try to sleep well the night before the exam, I couldn’t sleep and had a tough time just trying to keep my eyes open🙂
