1 year residency if I go to NY or only if I want to work in NY?
Can I work in any state after finishing in a certain state?

24AA/25TS/23PAT , 3.55 gpa for overall and science, Cal resident.
Not much volunteering, 50 shadowing and a research job.

Why don't you just apply to all of them, and then your interviews will give you a real perspective on what you like about the schools. If it wasn't for me having to go to Pittsburgh and see the school, meet the faculty, I'm not sure that I would have picked Pitt over Columbia, because when I went I just had a sense of it fitting with me.

Definitely take the Texas schools off though... yeah, same old reasons about residency.

When I was at my Columbia interview, they had said that they offer the Western Boards in the area like every year, so you could take it there, and go back to California and practice if you wanted - I know they also offer this at Pitt and other East Coast schools. Back to the question, yeah, I'm fairly sure you only have to do the extra 1 year (or other residency) if you want to practice in NY. Anyone else know if it's different?

I would say off with Stony Brook, Florida, Texas Schools, and Colorado. They're very "in-state" but all the other schools look solid. To be honest with you, you will probably get an interview at practically every school you apply to, I would pick out the ones you really want (maybe just 10-15 if even that) and go from there. Otherwise if you actually end up flying to every one of those interviews you will end up forking out close to $5000 with application fees and traveling expenses.

Very true for those expenses, I had 4 interviews in various parts of the country (resulting in 4 Pacific to Atlantic trips in 3 months, two of them in the same week!), and it can get pricey - though definitely a great experience!

I think I would choose those 10 schools from your list. I think you stand very strong in gaining admission so it's not really necessary to apply to 18+ schools.

Not only will you be spending $$$ on traveling, you'll regret it later since eventually you can only choose 1 school from your acceptances. Since you are a Cali resident, if I were you, I would love to go to UCLA.

That's what I think but if you really did you research in all of the schools you have chosen and have the money and time to travel, go for it man.
