I was part of the ADA study for the new format of the national boards part 1.
As I promised in an earlier post, I will share my experiences.
First of all, I took the NDB p1 in paper format in July, however I don?t have my scores yet (per part of the study) I took the new boards on computer last week.
There were 6 students in my class who participated in this study. The test set-up is basically the same as when we all took the DAT, register with the ADA, they send you a registration letter and number in the mail. Then you set up a time an date to take the test. Same thing as the DAT, you call the testing center directly and they tell you what specific info to do.
Got to the testing center early in the morning, checked in showed my two ID forms and gave them a ink fingerprint and was all set to go.
The test was on the computer. You basically click on the button with the answer you pick. Then click on the next button. You can also click a ?mark? button which will give you the option to review those questions when your done with a section. Once your done with each 100 question section you can review all those questions easy by clicking on a specific number in a list, if you haven?t completed a 100 question section you can?t review easy without clicking the back arrow a ton of times. Hopefully they will change this.
The questions were not the same as the paper test I took in July. They were much different, in fact they were much easier then the paper version. There were actually pictures on the test and the questions reminded me of some of the older released tests, not like the harder 2003 paper version with no pictures. (not sure if they were real questions for the future or just for the study, but I bet they are real, because I recognize a few from the 2003 test, but only that)
Taking the test took much less time then the paper version, and there was a questionnaire at the end of the test, no doubt for the study.
Much quieter, as I was given a head set and the computer room was very small with only a few people in it.
If anybody has any questions, please let me know.
