Hi,
This is my first post.

I am originally from Trinidad, lived there for 25 years. It is also where I completed my veterinary degree. I am currently a licensed veterinarian in Ontario, Canada and have been practising here for approximately 5 years.

I am in the process of enrolling in the ECFVG program because I would like to work In california. I have done the NAVLE and CPE in Ontario through the NEB about 5 years ago . These scores can be transferred as there is reciprocity between the NEB and the ECFVG.

I have submitted all documentation for the ECFVG application and have requested scores to be transferred.

However I was just told by the ECFVG that I have to write an english examination. I can be waived from writing it if I show completion of 3 years of english in a high school in United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, or Canada (except Quebec).

ANY native english speakers here who are foreign graduates enrolled in the ECFVG? Did you have to write an english exam?

as per the ECFVG website step 2

To complete Step 2, non-native English speaking candidates must provide the ECFVG with proof of comprehension and ability to communicate in the English language by meeting the minimum requirements established by the ECFVG on one of the following assessment tools: the TOEFL, TWE, and TSE (computer- or paper-based); the internet-based TOEFL (iB-TOEFL); the IELTS; or the CAEL Assessment.

Contact Information, English Language Examinations

To complete Step 2 of the ECFVG program, candidates whose native language is other than English must accomplish one of the following:

Achieve a passing score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and the Test of Written English (TWE) and the Test of Spoken English (TSE).
Achieve a passing score on the Internet-based TOEFL (iB-TOEFL).
Achieve a passing score on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
Achieve a passing score on the Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Assessment.

How expensive is the test?

I would be inclined just to take the TOEFL since you are clearly a good English speaker. No use raising a fuss where you're already going to succeed!

If you are not so savvy with the computer, then I suggest not to take the TOEFL. Typing speed can matter. IELTS is paper-based, it won't be a problem if you are not so handy with the computer. However, the key to these tests is time management. FYI, these are valid for 2 years.

I am looking a study partner for toefl.plz you are interested because I am stuck due to toefl test.

Where did you go to high school?
Rule is quite straightforward. Lots of US citizens for DVM to Caribbean schools and waive English requirements based on high school. If you did high school in Canada no need to take, if not take English exam.

Yes.... ME!
I am a US citizen, from Los Angeles. I studied biology at CSULA (2006), and went on to work throughout South America. When I got to Peru, I decided to study Vet Med. I am now going through the ECFVG, and am working on step 4.

I had to take the iB-TOEFL, it cost around $200.
I tried to waive the exam, but there are a few requirements, and I did not qualify:

1) You need at least 3 years at an American or English-speaking high school
2) Or the equivalency in the form of a GED exam.

I had a university degree from California and I made that abundantly clear to the ECFVG, but they could not waive it... because I skipped high school after only completing the 9th grade in order to enter a special advanced university program. Soooo.... I could not waive the silly TOEFL and had to take it! I'm essentially a high school drop-out... LOL

Anyway, just to show you how bureaucratic some things can be! Seems silly, doesn't it? But if you have to take it, then just take it. Your English seems pretty great to me.
