a study is conducted of the oxyden binding properties of hemoglobin in an experimental animal...hydrogen ion concentration is increased in blood...results show that the oxy hemoglobin diss. curve shifts to the right. this effect will most likely result in which of the following processes?

I had it narrowed down to “ increase in erythrocyte 2,3 BPG concentration” and “release of oxygen in tissue capillaries”, but I picked “increase in erythrocte 23 bpg” which was wrong. The correct answer is “release of oxygen in tissue capillaries”. Don’t both these factors shift the curve to the right? Then again, I’m thinking maybe I got this question wrong because the question may be simply asking “what happens as a result of this right shift”, which is oxygen unloading to the tissues. Is this what they meant?
