NBME 5 Easiest?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
being that it was just released i dont see how that is possible, unless the test is getting easier:meanie:

two weeks ago, NBME 4 = 209

today, NBME 5 = 261

i'm just gonna go out on a limb and say p is NOT less than 0.05

anyone have similar results w/ NBME 5?

what's the word on form 6? I have heard people talk about 1-4, and I understand that 5 is new, but i have never heard of 6

I would agree that I found NBME 5 to be much easier that 4, but many people say that 3 and 4 are way tougher than the actual thing. I think it gives you a guide to see that you've made some progress, and I made huge gains as well between 4 and 5, but I think I'll still take another 2 exams to make sure my scores are still improving and not going backwards. I'll leave 3 for the last one as I think that is a more difficult one, and will help me towards the final push...only 4 weeks left until d-day!

I would rather think I was going to do worse and do better rather than think I was going to do better and do worse. 😉

For me I basically took my score and knocked it down about 10% since I did think it was easier, I still showed progress which is what you want to see even when I did that. Most people know you have to atleast take 3 or 4 of the NBME exams to have a real representative feeling of how you will do on the test, they are the best predictor according to most people.

It shouldn't matter if they're "easier", since the percentiles are curved. Easier test = harder curve. It's the reason the super easy free questions can still be used to (semi)predict your score.

The only question is if for some reason some of the forms aren't curved enough so that they give misleading results.

I didn't take the NBME 5, but I know someone who did and their score was over 250. But then on the actual Step 1 they got a mid 230 score, so don't stop studying just because you did well on that one 😉

If I were to take just one nbme which do you guys think has the best perdictive value? I heard that 1 and 2 were fairly easy, 3 was the hardest and 4 was also hard but had longer q's.. and from reading this thread 5 is probably just as difficult as 1 or 2. so what do you guys think? I am leaning twords #4... and suggestions? ohh and I plan to do exams 1,2,3 as well but I have those on a pdf file so I just want to take on exam online to see what kind of score I get, because you can't tell what score you get based on what % correct you get.

thanks in advance for your advice.
