Hey all-

Just took an exam and got a 230 with about 84% correct on NBME 11. I was expecting higher than that with that percentage? What do you generally need to get above a 240 (my goal?).

Nobody knows for sure. There are rumors that the curve for the NBMEs recently got more difficult to better represent the 3 digit scores on the real thing.

You can try to find data points for NBME 11 from around SDN (people with scores around your target who bought extended feedback and know how many they got wrong). Look around in the NBME progression thread (http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=525730), I think that'd be your best bet.

For example, in that thread for NBME 11 you can find someone who missed 6 and got 271; another person who missed 8 and got 266, yet another who missed 10 and got 264...etc.

I can't remember where I got this PDF, but it's been pretty accurate for the most part.

I got 83% on NBME 11, and that was 228.

I'm pretty sure the "rumors" about the new scale are true. From looking at old threads, it seems pretty clear that the conversion has changed. But for what it's worth, I'm pretty sure the NBME curve is a lot harsher than the curve on the real thing.
