I hear people talking about taking NBME Practice tests, something about NBME Form 3 etc. Whats the deal with that? Where do you get those NBME tests? Are they the same thing as that 150 question sample questions? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

ok, so i figured it out.

For the paid NBME tests:

For the USMLE 150 practice questions:

Sorry to try your patience but, before I waste $45, the Comprehensive Basic Science exams 1-4 I see here (200 questions) are the Step 1 "forms 1-4" I hear everyone talking about, right?

When should I take one of those? I am 3 weeks from the exam with an average Qbank score (70% complete) and an above average USMLEWORD score (10% complete). I only do the questions in timed, random mode. I have not reviewed biochem, genetics, or micro yet.

Thanks folks.

You should take one because everyone on here who has rocked the real thing has felt the NBME forms were the best predictor of where they stood. For some, within three points of their real score.

Thanks....but are those forms that I mentioned the Step 1 practice forms that everyone is using. That was my major anxiety.

Yes, NBME forms = forms 1,2,3,4 that you see people posting scores from, with scores like 450 - 580 or 600+ or whatever. When you finish it, it gives you a conversion chart to approximate what you're predicted to score on the actual step. Be certain you're taking the comprehensive basic science self-assessment (CBSSA) that are for step 1, and not the clinically based ones.
