I have taken three NBMEs so far over the past 3 WEEKS, and have gotten basically the same score on all of them despite ridiculous amounts of studying.

NBME 6: 580 (236) 3.5 weeks out
NBME 3: 560 (232) 2.5 weeks out
NBME 4 570 (234) 1.5 weeks out

What is the deal here? NBME 3 and 4 were pretty tough, but I figured since it is curved my score would still have to go up! I always score borderline on respiratory for some reason too....even though I feel like I know it pretty well. I guess I will go over it again....any other advice?!!

This is frustrating!

take 5... see how it is.. it's supposedly "easy" ::rolls eyes::

I think you're being sarcastic, but I took 5 this morning and I thought it was the hardest one I've taken (all but 4 and 6).

These damn things piss me off. I can't believe how much I've shelled out for them just to calm my nerves. Bastard NBME folks preying on medical students. They should cost like 10 bucks.

So is that as far as their utility extends? Because I can find something else to spend $45 on that'll calm my nerves.

I notice I tend to skip over important words in questions. Like cerebral vs. cerebellar and not noticing little phrases like at least 2 instead of 2 when adding up simple numbers. I think I get to a question and am like oh this is easy and then pick an answer...I really need to figure out how to read the entire question! Especially for the questions that are designed as traps to make sure you are reading the question.
