Hi guys,

In the midst of preparing for my upcoming NBME Neuroscience final and was wondering how much I should focus on pharm stuff and how to study it. We didn't cover any in class but I looked at the NBME website and it says 20-25% of the exam is psychopharm agents. I've been using HY and the neuro and psych portions of the '07 First Aid to study. Thanks for your help!

Anyone? Final's on Monday...

Just took it last month. I don't recall any pharm questions on it and we got an unedited version so to represent the actual test.

Sorry if this comes a little late. I took the exam last year. We didn't have to take the psychopharm part, so I can't really help you there. For the percentage breakdowns, we all look at them closely and freak out, but they are not always an accurate reflection. If you can do the sample questions on the NBME site confidently, that's a decent reflection of your preparedness. (Or in my case: a signal to get studying)

I used Roadmap, BRS, and Pretest to study for the exam. Honestly, I hated BRS just because of how it was presented, so I stuck to Roadmap and consulted with BRS to get details if I felt up to it. If you can, do Pretest since it's pretty helpful. Some people used HY and did ok, I'm just speaking from my own experience. Oh and I looked at First Aid '06 the hour or two before the test as a review. I pretty much do that with all of the NBME exams.

I came in feeling wholly unprepared, due to my half-assed studying, and made it out fine. I'm sure you'll do great, good luck.
