Hey,

My 2nd year class just took this NBME "practice step 1"

I don't recall its exact name, but it was supposed to give us a baseline for where we are with regard to step-1 preperation. I was wondering if anybody who has taken it can tell me if it is anything like the actual boards?

-thanks

The questions are extremely similar; in fact, they're probably old questions. They will give you a useless 2-digit score and a three-digit score that approximates your Step I score at that time. My score went up 12 points, most of my friends who got closer to "average" had their scores rocket ~30 points. In every case, your score will go up, which is a good thing!

Big Frank is right. The questions are very similar to the real deal. They are old/retired questions. The score you get on that exam reflects very little about how you will do on the real thing. I did >30points better on the real thing than I scored on that (goes to show what 4wks of intense studying can do).

The real test has questions that are similar in difficulty to the test you just took. That test is a much better approximation than Qbank.

Hey I took NBME #1 last week and got a 430, studied more last week, just took it again this morning and a got a 410.

That is going the wrong way!!!!

DId this happen to anyone else out there?

I am also taking step 1 next monday (yes...7 days from now), and i'm gettin kinda nervous since my rate of memory loss seems to be greater than my rate of memory inclusion if you use my above scores as an estimate.

memory loss > memory gain = screwed.
