I will start my summer studying from Monday, and will have 9 weeks of studying. But on my first day of studying, I wanted to take the diagnostic test. Is there a pattern to which of the 7 NBME tests should be used a diagnostic and which as the final test before taking boards?

As of now, I have no idea about these NBME tests (dont even know how I can buy them). So any tips of how to best use them would be appreciated.

I'd recommend taking the higher numbered ones. The higher the number, the more recent the test. Since I am taking 3 total NBME's, one a month, I decided to start with 5, then take 6, and 7. NBME 6 and 7 are also the only ones where you can buy extended feedback that shows you which questions you got wrong.

I thought they were all the same. I didn't think the questions or topics on NBME 1 are any different from those on 7. Do as many as you are able, take them on self-timed so you can write down things you don't know and look them up later.

how many of the nbme exams are recommended to take (in 9wk study schedule)......is it better to take at times nbme tests in place uworld practice tests...since in the latter, you get explanations for q's u got wrong?

also, after taking an nbme test, how do you assess for what you got wrong? (since some tests dont tell u that)

NBME does not post answers to their questions, so you have to look them up yourself. If you buy the extended feedback, it shows you which questions you got wrong, but you have to determine what the correct answer is on your own.
