How long is this test? I'm taking step 1 in two weeks and I'm not sure if it would pay to take NBME if its going to take a whole day or spend that time studying...?
Howdy,
The test is 200 questions. I would highly recommend taking this exam because it is the closest thing to step I that you can take. Also if you don't do as well as you would like, it kinda scares you into studying those weak areas. I know it did for me.
How long is it timewise to complete the 200 questions?

The question is broken up in 50 question blocks. You are given 60 minutes for each block....just like q-bank and just like the real exam. I personally did not need the 60 minutes.
I think its definately worth taking them
I'm closer to my test date and I spent basically one whole day for each of them. But thats also because I took it it self-paced mode which allows 4 hours per block. So I would take the test and leave my answer the way it was (right or wrong) and look up the correct answers and concepts (either in textbooks or on various USMLE prep internet boards where most questions have been discussed at length)
I would recommend this b/c although time consuming, you get an accurate score based on your knowledge and you get access to the correct info and learn a whole bunch along the way.
