hey y'all. i have a question about the nbmes. i'm a little discouraged after taking nbme form 2 today. i scored about 15-20 points less than what got on the 2 world self assessments. it was still a decent score, but i was wondering if any of you have had problems like this and, if you did, how your actual performance compared to the nbme exams and uworld tests. thanks in advance. i'm just a little apprehensive as i take the test this saturday.

I haven't done any of the uworld assesments, but from what I have heard the UW tests overestimate your score by 10-15 points. It has been said several times that the best predictor of your score is your performance on the NBME assesments.

I dropped 20 points on NBME 4 from my USWA but got back up to that range on NBME 3. Go figure.

I dropped 6 points from my first UW assessment to NBME 6. Within 1 week of taking both. Wondering if I should just stick with NBME exams instead of doing my last UW assessment. I don't need to have my expectations inflated, I want my feet firmly on the ground, even if I don't like it.

I had a similar problem and plan on using nbme's to see where I'm at and use the UWSA #2 that I have left more for extra question (not using as an assessment)

I'm taking two more NBMEs over the next month. I took NBME #3 as somewhat of a baseline before I had studied much at all and did alright, but I figure since there are some newer ones I'd pick between them for the last two. Is there a general consensus that the newer NBMEs (5 and 6) are more like the real deal or does it not matter? I'd like to do ones with the best predictive value and the ones with material that is matched up relatively well with the real deal since I'm going to use them to direct my studying this month... Any advice would be much appreciated.

Is it possible that it was the format? In the NBME assessment format, you can't highlight or write notes, so maybe you found it harder to concentrate and eliminate answers? In the actual exam, it's more like UWorld's format (i am told).
