Greetings. I am a dental student who is taking the CBBSA in a few weeks. I wanted to get some perspective on this topic. A few questions:

- Can someone have access to old NBME exams (past years)? Are they available or does the NBME group only give out annual versions that are updated?

- Are there an abundant number of repeats on the exams from year to year? I am gauging how valuable it would be to buy the exams out now in terms of recognition (versus testing of knowledge).

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!!!!

You can have access to them if people give you the contrband pdf files. The NBME doesn't them not even if you pay for them. If you pay an extra $10 you can see the ones you got wrong, but they wont tell you what the right answer is.

Out in cyber space and peoples' hard drives are NBME 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,10,11,12,13.
Ont the site I think Its only NBME 7,10-13. You would have to check and see.

The chances of you seeing the same exact question is nil to none, but you'll probably see the same concept tested in a different way. NBMEs gauge how much material you know, but they don't help you learn more for the next NBME (maybe just some questions).

Why would you take an NBME before the CBBSA? Just buy a Qbank and do that, although I dont understand why you would do either anyways. Don't dental students have their own board exams?

Thanks for your response.

In order to apply for Oral Surgery, the AAOMS is administering the CBSSA. Our boards are now P/F, and programs need a way to gauge applicants now.
