I read on a post in another forum that your Step 1 questions are chosen based on how well/poor you did on the NBME practice tests if you chose to take them. Because of this, the OP suggested taking the tests on different names rather than all four on the same name. This sounds kinda off to me, but I was just wondering...Any idea? 😕

Hahah. Are you joking?

I took THREE practice assessments leading up to step one, which I took yesterday. Not only do I have no reason to believe that rumor, but I have pretty good reason to regard it as total nonsense.

so apparantly, this rumor goes around.

want to start some kind of conspiracy theory ----> How come a 200 question test predicts our performance on the real test so well, where your set of 350 can come from a question bank of who knows how big???!!!!

Most everyone scores within 10 points of their NBME score? X-files

1. This thread is hilarious, in a good way.
2. I'll post my step one experience as soon as I get my scores back, i promise.
3. Thanks, Arsenic.

I heard they pick your questions based on an analysis of your SDN posting history.

If that's true, there's a lot of people in trouble on this forum! Thanks for clearing up that rumor though. It sounded bogus to me too, but when you're close to the exam it's pretty easy to freak out over nothing. Good luck test takers! :luck:
